Privacy policy
Everything you make in Visionary stays on your device. The only data that leaves it concerns the purchase screen — no boards, no photographs, no account.
The short version
Visionary has no user accounts and no server of ours. Your Archives, Visions, Boards and every photograph in them are stored on your iPhone and are never uploaded anywhere. We cannot see anything you create.
The app does make network requests, and it is worth being precise about what for: showing you the purchase screen, and completing a purchase through Apple. That is all. There is no advertising, no cross-app tracking, and no analytics about how you use the app itself.
Your photos and boards
Visionary asks for access to your photo library so you can choose images for your Archives and Boards, and asks for permission to add photos so you can save a finished board back to Photos.
- Images you select are copied into the app’s private storage on your device.
- You can grant full access or limited access. With limited access the app only ever sees the photos you picked.
- You can change or revoke access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos.
- Photos are never uploaded, shared or transmitted anywhere. They do not reach us or any third party.
The purchase screen
Visionary is unlocked by a single purchase. The screen that offers it is delivered by Superwall, a service we use so the screen can be updated without shipping a new version of the app.
To do that, Superwall receives technical information about the device the screen is being shown on and what happened on it — the kind of device, its operating system and app version, its language and region, an identifier that distinguishes one installation from another, and whether the screen led to a purchase or was dismissed.
It does not receive your name, your email address, or anything you have made in the app. We do not set a user identity in Superwall, so the record is tied to an installation rather than to you as a person.
Superwall processes this on our behalf under their own privacy policy, which is linked below.
Payment
The purchase itself is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Your payment details go to Apple and never pass through the app or through us — we never see your card, and we never hold it.
Apple tells us, and Superwall, whether a purchase for your Apple ID completed, was restored, or was refunded. That is what lets the app know to unlock, and it is the extent of what we learn about your transaction.
Who processes data for us
These are the only third parties involved, and neither of them receives your photographs or anything you create in the app:
Where your data lives
Everything you create is stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud Backup enabled, your device backup may include it; that backup is governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not ours, and we have no access to it.
Deleting your data
Deleting content inside the app removes it from your device. Deleting the app removes all of it, permanently. Because your boards and photographs never reach us, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Your purchase record is held by Apple and is what allows you to restore access on a new device. Deleting the app does not remove it, and we cannot delete it on your behalf.
Children’s privacy
Visionary is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Your rights
Data protection law — including the UK GDPR and EU GDPR — gives you rights of access, correction, erasure, portability and objection over personal data held about you. Darkmode Ltd holds no account, contact details or content belonging to you, so in most cases there is nothing for us to disclose or erase.
Where the installation-level data described above counts as personal data, you can write to us at the address below and we will action your request with our processors. To help us find the right record you may need to tell us roughly when you used the app, since we hold no identifier that links it to your name.
If you contact us by email, we keep your message for as long as it takes to answer you and do not use your address for anything else.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of Visionary handles data differently, this policy will be updated before that version ships and the date at the top of this page will change.
Who we are, and how to reach us
Visionary is published by Darkmode Ltd.
This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
